Beware the Ides of March
It’s all too fitting that The Italian Screwjob, a book centered around the murder of a ruler in Rome, should be releasing on the Ides of March. I’m happy to announce that the book I sometimes describe as John Smith Goes to Italy and Eats Spaghetti is now available! The fourth in my seven-book series about John, private eye and neophyte mediator to the supernatural, The Italian Screwjob is a pivotal installment, resolving some long-running threads and setting up entirely new ones for the final three books in the series. I hope you love it as much as I do.
Thank you to all of the alpha and beta readers who helped make this book a reality: Claudia, Cory, Jamie, Johanna, Keith, Kerri, Mark E., Mark M., Mitch, Montie, Sam, Shawn, Simon, Tom, Ziggy, my angel-wife, and–always last but never least–my parents.
Once again, the magic of timezones means some of you received the book yesterday. I hope reading it put a smile on your faces! For the rest of you, I’ve prepared the usual list of content warnings below. And in case you want some more information before you dive into the book, I recently shared both a cast list and the first five chapters.
Content Warnings
I post content warnings for all of my books. I want you to have the information necessary to judge for yourself whether or not the book is for you. Many of these are repeats from earlier books in the series… but please give them a look anyway. As always, I try to avoid spoiling anything outright.
CW: death, violence, gore, bugs, body horror, sex and sexual language, profanity, drug usage, alcohol, loss of a parent, kidnapping, and some brief mentions of non-sexual abuse.
If any of the above throws up a red flag for you, please think twice about reading The Italian Screwjob. Also, check out the sample chapters I’ve already shared to decide if the book is right for you! My goal with this and every book is to entertain… I’d genuinely much rather you not read something1 that I write than be upset or have some past trauma triggered by it.
Happy Reading!
And now, as usual, I’m going to go unplug and wait for the release day dust to settle. I hope you all enjoy the book! If you do, please spread the word to your friends, families, coworkers, worst enemies, childhood romances, and strangers you encounter on the street. Also? Leave a review!
Happy March, everyone!
The Italian Screwjob is available now in digital and print formats!
Newsletter? Newsletter!
If you’ve read this far, you’ve got gumption, kid. In fact, you’re just the kind of person that would make an awesome subscriber to my newsletter. Come join the fun!
And by fun, I mean “be alerted when new books are available.” If this site’s blog posts are my monthly, in-depth, fact-heavy shareholders’ reports, the newsletters are my far-less-frequent, carefully crafted pseudo-tweets, skipping all the nitty gritty to tell you what you actually want to know: what’s new and how you can get it.
I promise that I will never spam you… because spamming takes effort, and I am way, way too busy for that.
