The year is almost over, and 2020 is lurking somewhere in the clouds above us, waiting for the moment we should cast our eyes skyward to come crashing down upon us in all of its fury. But we’ll worry about 2020 some other time. Like… a week or so from now.
As I did last year, I thought it would be fun to take a quick look back on the year that was. For those looking for substantive thought, analysis, and pontification on the year that was 2019… you’ve definitely come to the wrong site. But next week’s goodbye letter may at least superficially scratch that itch.
This week, we’re taking the Buzzfeed approach to journalism instead; here are my top 5 posts of 2019.
My Top 5 Posts of 20191
#5: See These Bones… The Book Trailer?
Because nothing says ‘I made a live-action book trailer’ than a near-1000 word post. For my next trick, I’ll describe an image instead of just posting it.
#4: Step 10: Profit
Because people either get my sense of humor or really thought I knew the secret to making money.
#3: See These Bones: Cover Reveal
Forget what I said for #5. Turns out, I already did spend 1500+ words to describe2 an image.
#2: See These Bones: Post-Release Update
Because you were curious how the launch of See These Bones went and/or really liked ship metaphors.
And finally, the most viewed post of 2019…
#1: See These Bones: Release Day, Advance Review Round-up, and Content Warnings
Because you’re all beautiful people. Happy Holidays!
I’ll be back next week with my goodbye letter to 2019.

A few caveats:
I’m including only posts made this year. The Storm in Her Smile and The Stars That Sing remain by far my most read posts of any year, but neither was posted in 2019.
I’ve also once again filtered out all of the static pages… Who Am I, the two series pages, and the always-popular Home page / Archives. As you’d expect, they all ranked highly.
